WBIA 61st Annual Bull Sale Stays Strong

The 61st annual WI Beef Improvement Association’s tested bull sale happened at the UW Platteville Pioneer Prairie Farm with good interest from beef producers around the region.

Bulls from this year’s sale are going to:  Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan and Nebraska


Specific Breed Information:


Bearns Miner Farm, Postville, IA, a first-time consignor to the Wisconsin Bull Test had the top selling animal in the sale, Red Angus Bull, lot # 108, sired by HXC Big Iron 0024X.  Travis and Becky Kramer, Wauzeka, WI purchased the bull for $5,250.  Hermann Wolters, Wolters Farms, Inc., Cuba City, WI consigned the high selling Angus bull, lot # 38.  Kamps Brothers, Cuba City, WI purchased the VAR Discovery 2240 son for $5,200.


Allan Arndt, Double A Simmentals, Janesville, WI and Dyllon Vetsch, Little Prairie Ranch, Eau Clair, WI sold the top two selling Simmental bulls. Arndt’s Lot # 2 a LRS Elevate son, sold to Larry Mumm, Bloomington, WI for $4,600.  Simmental Lot # 12, the other high selling Simmental bull was sold to Tristan Foster, East Lansing, MI.  Foster purchased the LLSF Uprising Z925 son for $4,600.


David Kuhle, Kuhle Family Farms, Hazel Green, WI sold the second, high selling Angus bull for $4,200.  Steve Farber, Reedsburg, WI is the proud owner of the Quaker Hill Rampage son.  Two other Angus bulls sold for $4,000.  A GAR Momentum son, consigned by John Anderson’s sold to Steve Farber of Reedsburg, WI and Richard Thole of Galena, IL purchased Tim Ryan’s bull, a Barstow Bankroll B73 son.  Ryan is from Lodi, WI and John Andersen is from Verona, WI.


The second high selling Red Angus bull was consigned by Brad and Lindsay Johnson, Clintonville, WI.  Ryan Oien, Rushford, MN paid $3,500 for the HXC Declaration 5504C son. A Bieber Deep End B597 son consigned by UW Platteville Farm sold to Arnold and Alicia Adams from Platteville, WI for $3,400.


Bob Shilling, Colesburg, IA, purchased to top selling Simmental/Angus cross bull for $3,100.  Lot # 117, a W/C Buckshot 149B son was consigned by Lundell Family Cattle, Livingston, WI.  Lundell Family Cattle also consigned, the second, high selling Simmental/Angus cross bulls.  Lot # 116, a MR HOC Broker son sold to  Cornelius Land and Cattle Co., Bellevue, IA and a CAJS Blaze of Glory son to Shannon Wolf of Lancaster, WI.  The two second high selling bulls sold for $3,000.

Biddick Inc., Livingston, WI, consigned the top selling Tarentaise bull.  This bull sold for $2,500 to William Armbrust, of Elkhorn, NE.  The sire of Lot # 17 was D&D maverick 52C.
