Chefs Invited to Enter Wisconsin’s Taste of Elegance

The Wisconsin Pork Association is making plans for the 29th annual Wisconsin’s Taste of Elegance competition and invites chefs throughout the state to enter. Up to eight chefs will be selected to compete for $2000 in cash prizes, plus the top chef will receive an expense-paid trip to the Culinary Institute of America’s Greystone Campus in St. Helena, California. UW Discovery Farms Announces Panelists for Conference

Wisconsin farmers Dan Wiese, Nick Miller, and Joe Bragger have been experimenting with cover crops for years. On December, 13th, they are prepared to discuss methods of establishment, costs and benefits, and varieties that work for them. Each panelist will complement their talk with photos and video highlighting their methods with plenty of time for questions from the audience. Along with his two cousins, Dan continues to explore multi-species cover crop mixes on Wiese Brothers Farms, a 6,000-acre dairy located near Greenleaf, Wisconsin. Seeing yield improvements in yield and soil health is the family’s driving force behind using cover crops. They apply manure directly into established cover crop fields using a low disturbance manure applicator.
